Welcome to the Power Orange Soccer team web site!
The Sterling Power Orange 97 Boys Travel Team was formed by the Sterling Youth Soccer Association (SYSA) in Fall of 2006. The team is coached by Mark Janis & Michael Smith, and professionally trained by Hisham Gomes. This U12 team competes in Division 3 of the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL).

Power Orange Dominates at the 2010 Virginian!!!
As they always do, the Sterling Power Orange players, coaches and families spent Memorial Day Weekend at the Virginian Soccer Tournament. For the 2010 Virginian, we were one of twelve teams playing in the U-12 Boys top division for 8v8 play. Despite the blazing heat, the boys were dominant all weekend long and brought home the hardware in the end!!
Saturday: Power Orange clinched 1st place in their bracket after only two games! They beat FC Frederick Jrs Black 3-0 and then came back from a 2 goal deficit to beat Central VA United 3-2!
Sunday: Power Orange was able to rest key players for the third (meaningless) bracket game and lost a close match to McLean Legend White 3-2. Power then came out for the semi-final match and completely controlled FPYC Golden Eagles scoring the four opening goals before giving one up right before the final whistle. Power Orange wins 4-1!
Monday: Two years ago, Power made it to the Virginian Finals but was unable to come away with the Championship. This time we were not to be denied. Playing on the new turf fields at Howison Park, Power out-matched an undefeated SAC United team and destroyed them by a score of 5-0!!!

Tryout Information
Are you a top flight player born 8/01/97 or later? The Sterling Power Orange may be the right fit for you! Power Orange are a rising U-13 NCSL Division 2 or 3 team with an outstanding roster of players and an excellent coaching staff. With the change to 11v11 play next season, we are currently looking for a few more players to complement our team. Skilled players with excellent speed are our top priority as well as an experienced keeper. Sterling Power Orange is a highly competitive team with an outstanding year-round training program. The players must be dedicated to the extensive training program and will be rewarded with competitive, high-level play. If you think that you can match this criteria, contact Coach Mark Janis. Power Orange Coaching Philosophy:
Our commitment as Travel Soccer coaches will be to provide abundant encouragement in a positive environment, to emphasize the teaching of skills and to increase the players’ soccer knowledge development. We promote Honor, Duty, and Integrity, and seek to awaken player’s internal motivation. We emphasize how these values apply in school, leading to better quality students and better results. We seek to keep a proper perspective. Travel Soccer IS competitive, and there is a desire to win, but our fundamental belief is that the Keys to Success are strong positive reinforcement and excellent preparation. We absolutely do not believe in “Winning at any cost”.

- 2009 Jefferson Cup Tournament - 2nd place in their flight with 1-1 record in the rain-shortened U-11 Boys Premier White Division
- 2009 Arlington Spring Invitational - 2nd place in their flight with 1-1-1 record in the U-11 Boys Classic Division
- 2008 Patriots Cup - Finished in 3rd place (Played up a year in the U-12 Division)
- 2008 Virginian Tournament - Finalist in the Top U-10 Division
